Philosophy

It's no big revelation to say that our public discourse has eroded in recent years. Everywhere we turn it seems people have lost their ability to get along with others. People seem to be on a hair-trigger, ready to fight with the slightest agitation. Unfortunately, our public leaders aren't helping with their endless boorish behavior. 

As a parent of 2 daughters and a teenage son, I try to pay close attention to the messages they receive in their lives from their social, educational, athletic, and work worlds. In that regard, I'm concerned. The rates of depression, anxiety, and other psychological problems are growing among young people. Social media is the accelerant but not the only factor. In our schools and institutions, we are focused more on standardized tests and extra-curricular achievements than we are on teaching communication and general life skills.

As I have gotten older, I realize that each generation has a responsibility to 'pay it forward' to others leveraging their own life experiences. For me, my 30 years as Sales Professional has exposed me to fundamental communication skills and tools to build productive relationships and positive outcomes. I believe sharing these lessons with a broad audience is my calling. 

I have been fortunate to be surrounded by a strong support group during my life. Granted, it is not devoid of adversity. But the skills I have learned by interacting with incredibly talented and passionate people have helped me stay the course. When I look outside my 'normal life', I see a great many people struggling to get ahead at home, work and school. They lack fundamental skills in communication and relationship management. And while there are infinite sources of content on this subject, my experience is that they are often too academic for everyday people. I am trying to bridge the gap.
